The melt flow indexer is related to the viscosity of the molten material.
It allows the estimation of the average molecular weight, at the same time giving an indication of melting "flow capacity" by means of a cut.
The melt flow indexer is defined as the weight or volume of the melted material floating through the calibrated cut, under the effect of a pre-determined force, at a constant temperature and for a total of 10 min.
