PolyWorks|Modeler is a comprehensive reverse engineering software solution that enables the extraction of optimal CAD entities such as curves, surfaces, parametric sketches, and prismatic features from polygonal models of digitized parts, which serve as the starting point for professional CAD modeling workflows.

Polygonal Modeling
The first step in a reverse engineering workflow is transforming scanned point clouds into polygonal surface-based models, also known as meshes. These polygonal models are more compact, more accurate, and less noisy than raw point clouds, and they can be directly used in industrial applications such as machining, 3D printing, and aerodynamic simulation.
PolyWorks|Modeler allows users to design polygonal models of scanned parts in real time, ensuring quality and accuracy through real-time meshing technology
It also enables the repair and optimization of imperfect scan geometry by filling holes, smoothing and reconstructing surfaces, cleaning edges, restoring sharp features, and creating watertight closed surfaces.
Additionally, CAD operations can be applied directly to polygonal models, including edge extrusion, surface offsetting, fillet reconstruction, and boolean operations.
PolyWorks|Modeler provides an intuitive surface workflow that combines interactive curve creation with next-generation automatic surface generation to produce CAD-compatible editable models for simulation, machining, and design applications.
NURBS (Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) are lightweight mathematical representations used to describe both simple geometric features and complex organic shapes. They are widely used to transfer reconstructed scan-based surfaces into CAD/CAM systems.

Solid Modeling
A key step in solid modeling workflows is the use of parametric 2D sketches. These sketches are used to create solid geometry through extrusion, revolution, sweep, and loft operations.
